چکیده
Study sample An a priori power analysis, based on published data, revealed that at least 25 patients in each group would be required to detect a 30% reduction in institutional costs, with a power of 90% at the 0.05 level of significance. This sample size would also be sufficient to detect a 30% difference in visual analogue scale (VAS) scores for pain, with a power of 80% at the 0.05 level. A total of 60 patients were included in the study and randomised to one of the two anaesthetic techniques. Thirty received spinal anaesthesia (group 1) and 30 received local anaesthesia with midazolam sedation

Local anesthesia and midazolam versus spinal anesthesia in ambulatory pilonidal surgery.
STUDY OBJECTIVE To evaluate two anesthetic techniques, namely, local anesthesia with sedation, and spinal anesthesia, with respect to recovery times, postoperative side effects, pain scores, patient satisfaction, and hospital costs for ambulatory pilonidal disease surgery. DESIGN Prospective, randomized study. SETTING University Hospital of Pamukkale. PATIENTS 60 consenting patients sched...
متن کاملPilonidal Sinus Operations Performed Under Local Anesthesia versus the General Anesthesia: Clinical Trial Study
BACKGROUNDS Various methods were defined to prepare patients for the pilonidal sinus surgery including local, spinal, and general anesthesia. But there is no powerful evidence to differ these procedures. Therefore, in the current study, we compared local and general anesthesia in the pilonidal sinus surgery. METHODS & MATERIAL in this clinical trial (IRCT201312031786N5) study 60 patients with...
متن کاملComparison of dexmedetomidine versus midazolam on hemodynamic parameters, bleeding, satisfaction of surgeons and patients who Underwent laminectomy surgery by spinal anesthesia
Background: One of the most empirical subjects particularly in substantial operations for example in surgeries involving the vertebral column, are the implication of sedatives in a manner which would create the least complications such as changes in the hemodynamic parameters. Two such drugs that are widely used in this capacity in clinical settings are midazolam and dexmedetomidine. Hemodynami...
متن کاملComparative study on the impact of low-dose ketamine with midazolam and with low-dose midazolam with ketamine to prevent shivering after spinal anesthesia
Introduction: Shivering is one of the complications of spinal anesthesia. There are various methods to control this shivering. In this research we opted to study the effects of two different combination doses of ketamine and midazolam on the prevention of shivering after spinal anesthesia. Material and methods: Methods:The study was a double-blind clinical trial performed on 120 patients who w...
متن کاملBlood Glucose Alterations in Spinal versus General anesthesia in those undergoing Cesarean Section Delivery
Introduction: Major body injury or surgery is associated with reproducible metabolic and hormonal responses. Alteration of blood glucose levels is one of the necessary metabolic changes to surgical stress. Surgical techniques and different methods of anesthesia are factors that can help to control and balance the body’s hormones. One of the most effective ways for decline the endocrine-metaboli...
